Situation won't improve by just giving slogans: NCP on PM Modi's 'saubhagya' Yojana

New Delhi [India], September 26 (ANI): The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) have strongly criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'saubhagya' Yojana by saying that the situation won't improve by just giving slogans, asking whether the Prime Minister live in a different world.

The Prime Minister has yet again come out with a quickie, yet another slogan "saubhagya" there is no end to all this," Nationalist Congress Party leader Majeed Memon told ANI.

Bashing the Prime Minister Modi on his claims of eliminating corruption Memon said that corruption cannot be claimed to have been eliminated.

"As far as corruption is concerned it is very much on the ground," he added.

Memon also said that for the past 2-3 years people have been hearing about Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, shining India, ache din, Make in India, but they are all in the air.

"There is no end to his slogans at all this, but on the ground you find nothing," he said.

He further asked "What the true achievement of this government has been?" adding that from the past three years the prices are skyrocketing, the black money continues to "rule the economy", the inflation is high, the GDP has gone down, the unemployment has gone up.

Speaking on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'saubhagya' Yojana another NCP leader Nawab Malik said that the Prime Minister's Saubhagya Yojana was announced in 2005 by the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government in the name of Rajiv Gandhi Gramin Vidyut Yojana.

"Till 31st January 2013 two crore five lakh houses got free electricity connection in the country, and the way Prime Minister Modi has announced the Sobhagya scheme, it is nothing but repackaging of old scheme in a new name," he told ANI.

Malik further said that this proves that every scheme announced by the Prime Minister is a repackage of a UPA scheme.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday launched Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana or the Saubhagya Yojana with a target to complete electrification of the entire nation by March 31, 2019.

He launched this scheme on the birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya.

The Government of India will be spending total Rs 16,320 crore in this massive project to provide electricity and to give the nation a new light.

The rural household expenditure is estimated to be Rs 14025 crore, with Rs 1732.50 crore is being allocated for urban households.

The gross budgetary support for the scheme will be Rs 12,320 cr.

Under the Saubhagya Yojana general category states will get a grant of 60 percent from the government while, the special category states will be bestowed with 85 percent grant.

The state government will contribute 10 percent of the total expenditure for the general state and 5 percent for special category sate.

The remaining amount will be covered by loans from financial institutions and banks.

The project will concentrate majorly on states like Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan and other North-eastern state.

For the household with no electricity located at remote and inaccessible areas the government will provide battery bank and solar power pack of 200-300 Wp.

The bank will consist of 5 LED lights, a DC fan, 5 DC power plug and will provide repair and maintenance facility for 5 years.

The main agenda of this Yojna is to provide substitution to kerosene, improve educational services, improve health services, improve mode of communications, improve in public safety and increase job opportunity.

Prime Minister also formally inaugurate ONGC's new corporate office that was renamed Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Urja Bhawan, from Rajiv Gandhi Urja Bhawan. (ANI)
