Section 144 imposed to check waste burning in Gurgaon

New Delhi: With high levels of pollution impacting the city, Gurgaon district administration today exercised section of 144 of CrPC here and banned the burning of waste, garbage and other materials openly. The order applies with the immediate effect following the direction of TL Satyaprakash, Deputy Commissioner of Gurgaon. The order will continue till the city becomes smoke-free, said the DC. The order stated that action would be taken against anyone found burning waste material which increased the pollution level. According to media reports, the sanitary inspectors of the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon have been directed by the Deputy Commissioner to ensure that the staff doesn’t burn garbage as well in the open. Otherwise, the polluter will be dealt with strictly. The City SHOs, Joint Commissioner of MCG and other regional officers of pollution control board have been directed to register complaints against any violators. The DC also urged residents and city RWAs to support the district administration in curbing pollution level to maintain peaceful and healthy ambiance in the city. Anybody who sees burning of waste material in the open can complain to the SHO, MCG joint commissioner and the regional officer of Haryana State Pollution Control Board, reportedly. A penalty of Rs.5000 can be levied on the person held responsible, as per the National Green Tribunal.
