SC issues notice to Centre on plea challenging J-K's Article 370

New Delhi [India], Aug 8 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Tuesday issued notice to the Centre on a plea challenging the special status to Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370.

As per the plea, Article 370 which gives special status to the state of Jammu and Kashmir has lapsed.

The plea also urged to declare the separate constitution of Jammu and Kashmir as illegal.

Following this, the top court issued notice to the Centre, seeking response on the same.

Earlier, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti while backing the people of her state vehemently denied the idea of revoking the state's special status granted as per Article 370 of the Indian Constitution, and said the flag and the special status were a crucial element of preserving the Valley's culture and heritage.(ANI)
