Samsung unveils Galaxy Note 8; pre-orders to commence today

New Delhi [India], August 24 (ANI): Putting an end to Smartphone buffs' anticipation, Samsung unveiled its flagship device Samsung Galaxy Note 8 at an event in New York, priced at 869 GBP (approximately Rs. 72,000) in the United Kingdom. The smartphone comes in four colour variants - Midnight Black, Orchid Gray, Deep Sea Blue and Maple Gold.

While the device is scheduled for a September release, pre-bookings are now open in select areas.

The company is yet to reveal the launch date and price of the smartphone in the Indian market.

Powered by an Octa-core Snapdragon 835 processor, the Galaxy Note 8 comes with a 6-GB RAM and 64-GB, 128-GB and 256-GB ROM variants. Apart from this, the device also comes with a microSD card for additional memory expansion.

The flagship sports a 3300mAh battery, with a USB Type-C port for charging. Reports suggest that although the device comes with Android 7.1.1 Nougat, an upgrade to Android Oreo 8.0 could be expected in the foreseeable future.

Samsung Galaxy Note 8 sports a 6.3-inch 'Infinity' display with minimum bezels on the sides, protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The Super AMOLED display comes with a resolution of 1440 x 2960 pixels, with an aspect ratio of 18:5:9.

The premium smartphone is built-in with a fingerprint scanner, which is on the back of the device. It is IP68 certified, making it dust and water-resistant.

The Note 8 boasts of dual rear cameras of 12MP each, with f/1.7 aperture lens, Dual Pixel Technology, and 2x optical zoom support. Meanwhile, the front camera is 8MP with f/1.7 aperture lens. (ANI)
