Rajiv Gandhi assassination case: Convict Perarivalan's mother urges TN CM to extend son's parole

New Delhi [India], Oct. 20 (ANI): The mother of A.G. Perarivalan, a convict in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, on Friday appealed to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami to extend the parole of her son.

Earlier, the Tamil Nadu Government had decided to extend the parole of Perarivalan by a month.

Perarivalan's mother appealed for another thirty days of ordinary leave, citing various ailments suffered by his father.

On August 25, for the first time since his arrest in 1991, Perarivalan was granted parole by the Tamil Nadu Government.

Perarivalan and six other convicts have been in prison since 1991, the year a woman Tamil Tiger suicide bomber blew herself up and killed Gandhi at an election rally in Sriperumbedur. (ANI)
