Presidential Elections to take place on July 17; counting of votes on July 20

New Delhi:  As the tenure of current President Pranab Mukherjee comes to an end on July 24, the Election Commission of India on Wednesday released the dates of the forthcoming Presidential Elections via a press briefing in the national capital.
  • As per the Election Commission, voting for the Presidential Elections would be conducted on July 17,Monday in the national capital
  • The counting of the votes casted for the presidential elections would take place on July 20, Thursday
  • As per Election Commission, the notification shall be issued on June 14
  • The last date of filing nomination for the upcoming Presidential Elections would be June 28, Wednesday
  • The timings to cast votes on the polling day would be between 10am to 5pm
Several guidelines issued by Election Commission:
  • Political parties cannot issue any whip to their party members in regards to voting for Presidential elections
  • Paper ballot shall be used to conduct the elections
  • Election Commission also specified that the Presidential election would be conducted via secret ballot and no voter can reveal his vote under any circumstances
