President Kovind heaps praises on Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala) [India] October 27(ANI): President Ram Nath Kovind on Friday applauded Kerala for its record in public health and education and said that the state was a frontrunner in India's quest to achieve total literacy.

Speaking after launching state's ambitious Technocity project, Kovind said, "The emphasis of the state on human development, and on health-care and education has set an example for the rest of the country".

He also applauded state's achievement in sanitation.

Further commenting over the state's involvement in international trade, Kovind said: "Being a coastal state, Kerala led involvement of Indian trade with foreign countries and cultures. Moreover, it has been at the frontier of the trade."

Talking about the state's growing IT export industry, president said, "Kerala is potentially power-house of Digital India. It has among the highest rates of mobile phone penetration in India."

President also congratulated the state for successfully hosting Under-17 Football World Cup.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Governor P Sathasivam, state ministers and other top government officials were also present during the event. (ANI)
