New Delhi: Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India, has certainly the most challenging jobs in the country, and keeps up to the gruelling schedule that belies his age. A part of being Narendra Modi also means a strong social media presence and an RTI query has revealed that the Prime Minister manages Facebook and Twitter on his own!
According to a report in financial daily Business Standard, the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) has, in a reply to a query filed through the RTI Act, revealed that PM Modi manages his personal accounts on social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter. The reply, however, mentioned that all updates on PM Modi's official accounts are done by the PMO.
The PMO statement also clarified that "no particular officer maintains them and that his accounts are updated as per information from various officials." At the same time, the PMO refused to divulge any information about the officials who help the Prime Minister post in foreign languages whenever he travels abroad. The reply only stated that the Information & Broadcasting Ministry provides teleprompting assistance to the PMO.
Narendra Modi has a massive following on social media, with 16.8 million followers on Twitter, just behind Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan who has 16.9 million followers. The Prime Minister's campaigns such as #SelfieWithDaughter were huge hits on social media.
