PM Modi, Rajnath congratulate Nitish, Sushil Modi

New Delhi [India], July 27 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday congratulated Janata Dal (United) supremo Nitish Kumar and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Sushil Modi who took oath as Bihar Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister respectively.

Prime Minister Modi took to Twitter to express his happiness and said he was looking forward to work together for Bihar's progress and prosperity.

"Congratulations to @NitishKumar ji & @SushilModi ji. Looking forward to working together for Bihar's progress & prosperity," he tweeted.

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh also congratulated Nitish Kumar and said the JD-U leader's commitment to transparency is admirable.

"Heartly congratulations to Nitish Kumar for starting new innings as Bihar Chief Minister. His commitment to transparency is admirable," he tweeted.

He also greeted Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi and said his support is important for taking Bihar to new height.

"Congratulations to Sushil Kumar Modi for being sworn-in as Deputy Chief Minister. His support is important to take state to new height," he tweeted.

Bihar Governor Kesrinath Tripathi administered oath to Kumar and Sushil Modi at Raj Bhavan.

This is the sixth time, when Nitish has taken oath as the Bihar Chief Minister.

With this, the political uncertainty in Bihar that loomed in on Wednesday after Kumar's resignation ended.

Bihar witnessed upheaval soon after Nitish Kumar's resignation.

Meanwhile, Kumar's former ally Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) cancelled its protest march to Raj Bhavan to oppose Kumar's swearing-in ceremony due to the probationary orders. (ANI)
