PM Modi has own interpretation of a Bhagvad Gita saying: Rahul Gandhi

Ponta Sahib (Himachal Pradesh) [India] Nov.6 (ANI): Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi on Monday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has his own interpretation of a saying from the Bhagvad Gita.

The Gandhi scion alleged Prime Minister Modi believes in eating up the fruits of others' labour.

"It says in the Gita, 'Do your work, don't worry about the fruits of your labour', but Modiji's interpretation is 'eat up the fruits of others' labour, don't worry about doing any work'," Rahul said while addressing an election rally in poll-bound Himachal Pradesh.

Rahul's remarks came after Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said the Congress accepted defeat in Himachal Pradesh and will not return to power here in near future.

Addressing a rally at Rait, the Prime Minister launched a scathing attack on the Congress by saying that the grand-old party has backed off and accepted defeat as its central leaders have stopped campaigning in the state.

On the other hand, Rahul Gandhi has trained his guns at Prime Minister Modi. Ahead of assembly elections in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh, Rahul has been cornering the Prime Minister over demonetisation and the Goods and Services Tax (GST).

On October 26, addressing a PHD Chamber of Commerce functions in Delhi, Rahul said, "Rising unemployment in India is a 'MMD- Modi Made Disaster' and after three years of NDA (National Democratic Alliance) government, India's expectations are shattered."

Ahead of demonetisation's first anniversary on November 8, Rahul also targeted Prime Minister Modi over it.

"Prime Minister has forgotten that all cash is not black and all black is not bad. Novermber 8th is the 'barsi' (death anniversary) of note ban. GST or Gabbar Singh Tax has unleashed tax terrorism. Small businesses are crying due to the GST," Gandhi said.

On November 8, 2016, Prime Minister Modi announced to demonetise 500- and 1000-rupee banknotes with an aim to weaken the black money or shadow economy in the country.

The Opposition parties have announced to observe November 8 as 'black day' to oppose demonetisation.

To counter Opposition's plan, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has decided to make Indians aware about the Modi government's anti-black money steps till November 7 and will observe November 8 as anti-black money day.

In Himachal Pradesh, the BJP has named former chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal as its chief ministerial candidate and the Congress is banking upon incumbent Virbhadra Singh, who is facing court cases over corruption charges.

In 2015, the CBI filed a case against Virbhadra Singh and his family for owning assets disproportionate to his known sources of income when he was the union minister between 2009 and 2011. Cases have been filed against his wife Pratibha Singh, son Vikramaditya and daughter Aparajita as well.

Polling in Himachal Pradesh is slated to be held on November 9. Results of the 68-member Assembly will be declared on December 18. (ANI)
