Paytm takes its ad down after being trolled on social media; re-uploads upgraded ad

New Delhi: After Kejriwal, Paytm with its new advertisement, has now left most of the nation fuming.  Ever since Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a sudden address to the nation abolished the 500 rupee and 1000 rupee notes, Paytm, one of India’s largest online transaction sites has been asking people to use its services and trying to market the move in its favour. Its recent effort was seen in the ad created by Paytm’s brand marketing team. The ad with the tagline ‘Drama band karo…Paytm Karo’, showed a house-help asking her privileged boss to stop dramatizing the situation (demonetization situation) and use Paytm for transactions. Consequently, the advertisement faced a lot of social media backlash. Twitterati trolled Paytm  and called it insensitive and horrible for making fun of the troubles of the common man.  Soon after the company withdrew the ad and on Monday morning, Paytm chief Vijay Shekhar, re-uploaded an upgraded ad. Only recently did Paytm land into a controversy because of its Twitter war with Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal who accused Paytm of being the biggest beneficiary of the PM’s demonetisation move.
