Pakistan Army kills 2 jawans in firing from across LoC in Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara

SRINAGAR: Two Indian soldiers were killed on Wednesday as Pakistani troops ambushed a patrol party along the Line of Control in Keran sector of Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara district, Army said. A patrol party of the Army was ambushed and fired upon by Pakistani troops, resulting in killing of two soldiers, an army official said. He said further details of the incident were awaited. The official did not elaborate as to whether the Pakistani troops had crossed the LoC to carry out the attack or opened fire from the territory under their control on the other side. Defence Ministry sources said the soldiers from the Jammu and Kashmir Rifles were killed in Furkiya area. Furkiya area has been a known route used by militants infiltrating into the Kashmir Valley from Pakistan. Security forces have launched a massive hunt to track down Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) commander and Pakistani national Abu Ismail, who has emerged as the mastermind of the deadly attack on Amarnath pilgrims. Proactive operations have been launched, mainly in south Kashmir, to track down Ismail as investigations including communication intercepts have pointed out to his involvement in the attack on Amarnath pilgrims. Seven Amarnath pilgrims, including six women, were killed and 19 injured when terrorists attacked a bus in Kashmir's Anantnag district on Monday evening.
