'Padmaavat' row: Bihar ADG assures action against violence

Patna (Bihar) [India], Jan 25 (ANI): The Additional Directorate General (ADG) of Bihar (HQ), Sanjeev Kumar Singhal, on Thursday said that strict action will be taken if 'Padmaavat' protesters resort to violence in the state.

"As per current inputs, protests have been done within the law, and violence is not reported yet. If there's an untoward incident we'll take action as per the said guidelines", Singhal told ANI.

Yesterday, the Police Headquarters issued detailed guidelines to its field formations - all the SPs, DIGs and IGs - that stated as per the Supreme Court's direction, protection is to be provided to the filmmakers and the people screening and watching 'Padmaavat', the ADG informed.

Protests against Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Padmaavat' have spread across the nation and incidents of violence have also been reported.

While various Hindu and Rajput fringe outfits have raised objections over the epic drama alleging that the Rajput queen, Padmavati, has been misportrayed in the film, the movie released on January 25 after a green signal from the Supreme Court. (ANI)
