Patna: Asset declaration of the Bihar ministers on Friday showed how passionate they are for car and guns.
Chief minister Nitish Kumar's asset declaration showed he, too, is fond of cars, as he possesses a Ford EcoSport of 2015 make. He also has a Hyundai Santro of 2003 but it was gifted according to the assets declaration.
As far as movable assets are concerned, Nitish has Rs 18,97,634 and Rs 40,00,000 as immovable assets. However, Nitish's son Nishant is richer than his father with movable assets worth Rs 94,08,322 and immovable assets worth Rs 1,20,18,519.
RJD chief Lalu Prasad's eldest son and health minister Tej Pratap has a BMW costing Rs 29,43,097 and a motorcycle, CBRI000RR, costing Rs 15,46,000. He has Rs 4,56,046 in his account apart from shares worth Rs 25,10,000. He has a total immovable assets of Rs 79,27,500.
Contrary to his elder brother, Tejaswi, the deputy chief minister, who also holds the portfolio of road construction, does not own any vehicle. His movable assets were estimated at Rs 22,55,722 and immovable assets at Rs 91,52,500, apart from investment in shares worth Rs 5,38,100.
At the time of elections, BJP leaders had questioned Tejaswi on how he had acquired the money without having a job. Tejaswi had said he had earned the money during his cricketing stint in the IPL and Ranji tourneys.
Education minister and Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee president Ashok Choudhary has a Toyota Altis of 2015, costing Rs 16 lakh and a Scorpio. Even industry and science technology minister Jai Kumar Singh has two SUVs - Scorpio and Fortuner - worth Rs 25,57,680. However, he also has a .32 bore revolver and a rifle.
Finance minister Abdul Bari Siddiqui has a .32 bore and an old NP Bore rifle. Labour resource minister Vijay Prakash, too, is fond of cars as well guns. Vijay has a Ford EcoSport of 2014 and a sophisticated gun like one .25 bore German Mauser and a 30.06 bore rifle.
Disaster management minister Chandra Shekhar has an NP Bore rifle. RJD ministers Ram Vichar Rai and Shiv Chandra Ram also possess guns. Ram Vichar has a rifle and a pistol, whereas Shiv Chandra has one NP Bore rifle.
In terms of guns, even JDU ministers are not too far behind.
Parliamentary affairs minister Shravan Kumar has a revolver and a rifle. However, he has not given the specification of the guns.
Another JDU leader and Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe welfare minister Santosh Kumar Nirala has a pistol and a rifle. He, too, has not mentioned the specifications of the guns. He, too, has two SUVs.
JDU leader and rural works minister Shailesh Kumar has a double-barrel gun and a pistol. He is financially strong as well with movable assets worth Rs 40,02,941 and immovable assets Rs 78,24,000.
Water resources minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lallan Singh has emerged the richest with Rs 37,71,446.93 movable and Rs 40,12,5600 immovable assets, while tourism minister Anita Devi possesses the lowest assets of Rs 8,47,800 worth movable assets.
