NEET counselling case: SC to hear MP Govt's plea

New Delhi [India], Aug 29 (ANI): The Supreme Court will, on Tuesday, hear the plea, filed by Madhya Pradesh Government, in connection with NEET counselling case.

Last year, in September, the Supreme Court cancelled the Madhya Pradesh government's National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) counselling conducted during 2016-17 admission for various undergraduate private medical colleges examinations.

A five-judge bench, headed by Justice Anil R. Dave, took the decision of cancelling the NEET counselling after the hearing a detailed argument from various respondents and petitioners.

The apex court then said that Madhya Pradesh government did not follow the Centre's notification, while conducting the counseling for the colleges.

The Supreme Court gave instructions to the colleges to conduct a fresh counseling and instructed the state government to strictly follow the rules and regulations laid down by the Central government and statute.

The top court also observed that the private colleges did not follow the Centers notification in connection with the counselling of private medical undergraduate courses. (ANI)
