Mystery continues: Who is chopping off women's braids in Delhi?

The incidents are being reported from other states too.

New Delhi: The mystery behind who is chopping off braids of women in the national capital Delhi still continues. The incidents are being reported from other states too. Recently, in southwest Delhi's Chhawla area, three cases were registered in  connection with alleged chopping off of some women's braid by unidentified persons, police said. Cops had procured CCTV footage in which three men could be seen roaming in the area, said cops on Monday. As per the information the accused persons break into the houses of women, cut their hair. They also steal items. "The victims alleged that when the incident happened, they were present at home and their houses were locked from inside and when their hair was chopped off, they did not notice anybody," police said, reported news agency PTI. It is being suspected that the culprits administered a sedative so that the females are not able to offer any resistance. Three persons were seen from a CCTV footage and the police had developed photographs of the accused, said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest) Surender Kumar. Efforts were on to get a breakthrough in the case. Cops had denied any witchcraft angle in the case and said they are verifying the allegations of women. Cops had sent some samples for forensic examination.
