MP’s Dalit man breaks monotony: Goes against age old custom on daughter’s wedding

Madhya Pradesh: People these days make every effort to make their weddings look lavish and big fat by spending lakhs and crores and picking the most expensive venues. But there are also several weddings which take place without lavishes, where even a mere band is not allowed. A village named ‘Mana’, which is situated in Madhya Pradesh, had never seen a band being blown on a Dalit wedding before Chander Meghwal broke the monotony. The reason why no bands were heard on Dalit weddings in Mana village is because Gurjars didn’t allow them to, saying that bands were meant for only ‘upper caste’. One of the police personnel present at Mamta’s wedding said “even though the Gurjars assured us they would not create any trouble, we didn’t take a risk and deployed over 2 dozen cops for security purposes”. Even the bride seemed extremely excited about the monotony being broken on her big day.
