Meerut woman turns tables, gives triple talaq to husband after repeated torture

Meerut: We have generally seen women crying about misuse of ‘Triple Talaq’ by their husbands, where they are divorced over Whatsapp, phone calls and letters. But, a 24-year-old Amreen Bano turned the tables by giving a Triple Talaq to her husband after he allegedly tortured her on a regular basis. Bano, who stays in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut also file an FIR against her husband and accused him of abusing, thrashing and torturing her on daily basis. She also alleged that because of her husband’s rough behavior, she had to face a miscarriage too. Amreen married Sabir, who was a boy from a neighboring village in 2012.  Also, her sister Farheen married his brother Shakir. Both the sisters are now alleging that they have been incessantly beaten by the two brothers ever after their wedding. Both sisters were allegedly thrown out of their homes in 2015 but were taken back later. They allege that the police failed to act on FIRs they had filed against their husbands on January 30. Ambreen after facing repeated threats from her husband finally approached the police and narrated her ordeal. She said, “My husband does not say anything. He does not give money to me, my kids or my nephew, nieces. I want to take him to jail. I want to give talaq to my husband. Like in the Muslim community a man gives Talaq by saying ‘talaq, talaq, talaq’ they get rid of women. Similarly, I want to give him talaq in front of the Muslim community”. As per Islamic rules, women are not entitled to ‘triple talaq’ like men. They can ask their husbands for a talaq, and if the husband refused to give one, she can approach the Muslim law board, which can get the ‘khula’ done between the two. The cops have assured that they would take a necessary action.
