Meerut: National-level female wrestler assaulted, probe underway

Meerut (Uttar Pradesh) [India], August 6 (ANI): An investigation has been launched after a national-level wrestler was assaulted in Meerut on Thursday.

Neha Kashyap, a wrestler who has won numerous accolades at the national level, was physically assaulted by a few unidentified wrestlers on Thursday morning.

"It was 5:30 a.m. I was going for my practice when certain guys started eve-teasing me. When I tried to stop them, they started beating me up," she said.

She further claimed that she has gone to the police station more than five times, but no action has been taken against the accused.

Speaking to the media on the same, Man Singh Chauhan, SP of Meerut said that an FIR has been lodged against the accused and the matter is being looked into. (ANI)
