Mandsaur: "Return my husband, he's all I need," farmer's widow tells CM Shivraj

MANDSAUR: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Wednesday visited Mandsaur, where five cultivators were killed during the farmers' stir, and handed over a cheque of Rs 1 crore to the family of one of them. Bereaved family of a farmer, Ghanshyam Dhakad, killed in police firing said no amount or offerings can compensate the loss it incurred after his death. "Chief minister said Rs 1 crore will be credited into my account and I will get a government job. He also promised free education for my child," Rekha, widow of Dhakad, said. Rekha said Shivraj cannot wipe away tears from our eyes as he cannot bring her husband back. "Can he bring my husband back? He can offer me everything but can he return my husband? He is all I need," she said. Rekha said she urged chief minister that stringent punishment should be given to those responsible for killing her husband. Watch the video: The state government yesterday sanctioned financial aid of Rs 1 crore each to the families of the six farmers killed during the violent stir by peasants in Mandsaur. The aid was sanctioned from the chief minister's discretionary fund and it would be given by the Mandsaur collector through e-payment facility, a public relations official earlier said. On June 6, five farmers were killed as the agitation by peasants turned violent in Mandsaur. Besides, a 26-year-old farmer had died in Badwan village of Mandsaur district. Locals on June 9 had alleged that he was beaten up by policemen.
