New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today claimed the CBI has raided his office in central Delhi and launched a no holds barred attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying he was resorting to "cowardice".

The Chief Minister, who is involved in a prolonged tussle with the Centre, accused the Modi government of resorting to vendetta politics and came down heavily on the agency for the raids at Players Building.

Arvind Kejriwal said that "When Modi could not handle me politically, he resorts to this cowardice".

CBI Spokesperson said the searches were being conducted at the office of the Principal Secretary Rajendra Kumar and that details would be shared later. Sources said that a team of CBI officials went to the Delhi Secretariat, which houses office of Kejriwal and other ministers in the morning and conducted the search in the third floor of the building.

After CBI's denial Delhi chief minister said that, "CBI is lying. My own office raided. Files of CM office are being looked into. Let Modi say which file he wants?"

Meanwhile, the CBI said it has registered a case against Secretary to the Chief Minister, Rajendra Kumar on allegations of abusing his official position by "favouring a particular firm in the last few years in getting tenders from Delhi government departments."

"After taking warrants, searches are being conducted in the office and residence of Rajendra Kumar. The allegations against Rajendra Kumar were raised by Ashish Joshi, former Member Secretary, Delhi Dialogue Commission," the agency said..

Recating to this Kejriwals said that Rajendra is only an excuse, CBI is actually looking into my fines. "If CBI had any evidence against Rajender, why didn't they share it with me? I would have acted against him,  I am the only CM who dismissed, on my own, a minister n a senior officer on charges of corruption and handed their cases to CBI," Delhi chief minister tweeted.

Minister of Information and Broadcast Prakash Javedkar said that the center government has nothing to do with the CBI raid, the agency raids only when it receives credible complaints.

AAP MLA Kumar Vishwas siad, "We don't want lesson on corruption from Prakash Javadekar, CBI has grown wings".

"This is an undeclared state of emergency. The Modi government wants to turn our country into a police state where there are no civil rights," said AAP leader Ashish Khetan.

The AAP government has been locked in a running feud with the Centre over the control of important functions like law and order, police and land.
