Kejriwal is the "biggest fraud", AAP to win less than 10 seats in Punjab elections, says Sukhbir Singh Badal

New Delhi: Punjab state Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal on Friday predicted the result of the state poll and slammed Arvind Kejriwal and his AAP. During an interactive session at the ABP News Shikhar Sammelan here, predicting the results, Sukhbir Singh Badal proposed to give it in writing that AAP will win less than 10 seats this election. The leader took his turn to criticise Kejriwal and his Aam Aadmi Party, with Badal saying Kejriwal is the "biggest fraud"and that most of its candidates have criminal records.
  • "People in Punjab tend to fancy the new. Kejriwal was a new face. When he came, people had some expectations from him. But now they have seen the real him." Badal said.
  • "Everybody here were earlier supporters of Kejriwal..now they are anti-Kejriwal."
  • "People know them (AAP) very well now... Out of 50 candidates they have declared, 35 have criminal records," said Badal.
  • Badal went on to say that he ll leave politics if Kejriwal could tell which grain season it is in Punjab. He said that Kejriwal is oblivious to the culture and the needs of Punjab.
  • Badal went on to say that the Aam Aadmi Party does not stand a chance in Punjab. "We are in competition with the Congress," he said.
On being asked about who ll be the CM candidate, Badal said, it will undoubtedly be Parkash Singh Badal. "He is the best person for the state of Punjab. The amount of experience he has in dealing with situations, the experience that our team has had working under him, nobody can match that." Badal also took a dig at cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu saying that he does not have an ideology and put himself on sale. "Earlier, parties were running after Sidhu...three months later Sidhu was running after parties." The Sutlej-Yamuna Link (SYL) canal which was stopped from letting water into the state of Haryana was also talked about. On which Badal said, that according to the National and International law, that the water belongs to the territory that it passes through. "Yamuna passes through the Haryana but does Haryana let us use it?" Badal stated that rainfall is low by 50 percent in the last three years in Punjab. The state is already running low on water. On being asked to express his views on demonetisation, Badal supported Prime Minister's move to fight the menace of black money. The deputy CM said that though there is a lot of social unrest in the country, Indians have accepted the decision to demonetise higher value currency and are cooperating in transforming the country’s economy and society. He said that people are suffering but at the same time, there is patience being shown which is guided by the long term benefits that would come from the decision. Watch the entire interview here:
