Police deny permission to SP's Sadbhavana March, Sangeet Som's Nirbhay Yatra

KAIRANA: Uttar Pradesh police on Friday denied permission to Samajwadi Party leaders's 'Sadbhavana March and nd Muzaffarnagar riots accused Sangeet Som's 'Nirbhay Yatra'. Sangeet Singh Som, on Wednesday had announced to take out a 'Nirbhay Yatra' from Sardhana to Kairana to “instill confidence” among people who are not feeling safe due to the “communal atmosphere being created” by some parties. Samajwadi Party leader Atul Pradhan on Thursday announced that he would carry out a 'Sadhbhana Yatra' from Sardhana to Kairana to counter Som's "Nirbhay Yatra". Last week, BJP MP Hukum Singh had alleged that the Hindus were being forced to leave their homes in the Muslim-majority town in Kairana, though he later backtracked from his claims. Singh said that the "migration" of Hindus from Kairana was "not communal" in nature, adding that people are leaving the region due to law and order problems and threats by goons. Uttar Pradesh chief minster countered BJP's allegeation and had said "Since the elections are near and BJP doesn't have any issue to raise the party trying to downplay the development work done by us with such false assertions." "The BJP is saying the Samajwadi Party workers are chasing away the people in Kairana. How corrupt these BJP members can be? The list provided by the BJP on Kairana must be scrutinized. Many fled years ago when the Samajwadi Party wasn't even in power," Akhilesh had said.
