Irani's remark against Rahul as fake as her degree: Congress

New Delhi [India], July 13 (ANI): The Congress Party on Thursday said Union Minister Smriti Irani's statement against party vice-president Rahul Gandhi was as fake as her degree.

"Smriti Irani's statement is as fake as her degree. Irani thinks she can gain brownie points by attacking Rahul Gandhi. She should peep into history and try to get all the records," Congress leader Shobha Oza told ANI.

"The Modi government made fake promises that they will take stern action. She needs to revisit history and strengthen her knowledge of history and then comment," she added.

Another Congress leader P. L. Punia said that Irani, who in his view is not a serious political leader, should not forget that Rahul belongs to family that sacrificed their lives for the nation.

"I don't consider Smriti Irani as serious leader so I don't take her statement seriously. Smriti Irani should keep this in mind that Rahul Gandhi belongs to a family that sacrificed their lives for the nation," he told ANI.

Irani on Wednesday slammed the Congress vice-president for holding Prime Minister Narendra Modi responsible for Amarnath terror attack and blamed Nehru-Gandhi family for the ongoing Kashmir turmoil.

"History has evidence that when it comes to challenges with regard to Kashmir, those have been given out to country, courtesy Nehru-Gandhi family," Irani told ANI.

She said Rahul's comment is an example of cheap politics,as he chose to attack Prime Minister Modi when the nation stands united and is fighting a crucial war against terrorism.

"This kind of comment from Rahul after returning from holiday indicates that he will not leave any single opportunity to do politics," she said.

Further stressing on the same, Irani said such comments are boosting the morale of the terrorists and is an effort to de-motivate the people fighting against the terrorists.

"Gandhi is speaking about personal gain in his tweet. There are few questions he needs to answer, that when Congress representative Mani Shankar Aiyar went to Pakistan and requested for help to remove Prime Minister Modi's government, was that for personal gain or was a political strategy?" she asked.

Earlier in the day, Rahul blamed the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-People's Democratic Party (PDP) Government in Jammu and Kashmir and said that Prime Minister Modi's policy has created space for terrorists in the Valley.

Rahul took to Twitter to condemn the recent terror attack and said "Modi's policies have created space for terrorists in Kashmir. Grave strategic blow for India."

He said BJ's alliance with the PDP has cost India massively.

"Short term political gain for Modi from PDP alliance has cost India massively. Modi's personal gain= India's strategic loss + sacrifice of innocent Indian blood," he tweeted.

As many as seven people were killed and fifteen others were injured after a group of terrorists opened fire on a bus carrying 17 pilgrims from Baltal to Mir Bazar around 8.20 p.m. on Monday night. (ANI)
