Gurgaon: Anshum Aggarwal used to work for a Multi national company and drew an annual salary of Rs 46.5. In June 2002 he met an accident and he suffered severe injuries when a car rammed into his office vehicle.
An IIT Mumbai graduate, Anshum, has now been awarded a compensation of Rs 2.06 crore, the highest such relief awarded in the city, reports the Times of India.
The presiding officer of the Motor Accident Claims Tribunal, said that Aggarwal be given Rs 1.78 crore along with 9% interest on the sum from the date of filing of the petition.
After three years the boy is still under treatment and the injuries he suffered would make it difficult for the young man to lead a normal life.
"No compensation is enough for the damage caused to my health and professional life," says Anshum.
"The accident caused great mental agony , harassment and financial losses to me and my family. I spent more than Rs 50 lakh on treatment and still I will never be able to live a normal life," Aggarwal told Times of India.
"The petitioner cannot even perform his daily routine tasks properly and has difficulty climbing stairs. His speech is not clear and there are instances when he stammers," his lawyer said.
