Indian government takes down maximum Facebook posts in the world for law violation

New Delhi: The biannual report by Facebook has revealed that Indian government requested the most to take down a post from the social networking website as they were violating Indian laws.

India had 15,155 pieces of content restricted which is nearly triple the amount in the second half of 2014. News agency Reuters reported that Turkey was the second country to have asked the maximum number of post takedowns.  They asked for 4, 496 posts.

The maximum number of requests for information takedowns came from the United States. The US agencies requested data from 26,579 accounts. These posts were not necessarily related to law violations.

India has around 190 million Facebook users. In June 2014, the number was 70 million. 1.55 billion people use Facebook globally.
