New Delhi:  Former Delhi CM Sheila Dikshit has said that she won’t be contesting the upcoming state assembly polls and asserted that she’s not interested in returning to active politics as well.

In an interview to ABP News, Dikshit denied looking for any party position & felt its time others be given a chance to rise.

“It’s my personal opinion to not contest polls. I am the soldier of the party, will continue working for the party at whatever position it wants me to,” she said.

Sheila Dikshit, who had ruled the national capital for 15 years, says Kejriwal is “irresponsible”. “We gave AAP outside support but he fled away from governance.”

She feels BJP and AAP are just misleading the people.

Talking to a national daily recently, the 76-year-old had reportedly said during her meeting with PM Modi in July she "saw a confident man, with a vision" and "a new language".

“I just said he seemed confident after winning LS polls & has a vision. This doesn’t mean I am criticizing or praising him. We should look at the PM’s post with respect, Dikshit clarified.

After BJP, AAP and Congress conveyed their inability to form a government in Delhi, the Union Cabinet approved the dissolution of state assembly.

President Pranab Mukherjee on Wednesday dissolved the Delhi Assembly following Union Cabinet's recommendation.

The president signed the proclamation dissolving the Delhi Assembly, a Rashtrapati Bhawan spokesperson said.

Meanwhile, Congress would be setting up an eight-member coordination committee for Delhi elections, but have omitted Sheila Dikshit out of it.
