Srinagar: A cow, a dog, a horse and a goat on Thursday hit the streets of Srinagar to press for the protection of human rights in the Valley.
"I am Sangh Parivar's cow, I am secure than Kashmiris," read a placard around the neck of the cow . The placard on the goat read: "I am Mahatma Gandhi's goat, I am secure than Kashmiris".
The protest was organised by Independent legislator Sheikh Abdul Rashid on the eve of International Human Rights Day.
Its message: animals are safer than humans in Kashmir. So, instead of humans fighting for the rights for animals, it should be the other way round.
"We want to convey the pain and sufferings of Kashmiris through this protest," Rashid said. Custody killings, illegal detentions and torture are the order of the day in the state, he said.
