Hyderabad cops turn midwives for woman in labour

Hyderabad: Four policewomen of the Hyderabad Police came to rescue of a homeless woman in distress and helped her deliver a baby on the pavement of a road in Andhra Pradesh's capital Hyderabad. The women cops set up a makeshift labour room using sarees and bedsheets, as shifting the woman in dto a hospital was not possible at that moment. Police Inspector Bheem Reddy, who noticed the pregnant woman experiencing labour pain and lying unattended on the road, reacted swiftly and pressed a team of women constables near city's Shanti Theatre for her help. Women cops Sharadha, Shobha, Jyothi and Divya facilitated the delivery. The mother and the baby were shifted to a nearby hospital soon. A woman constable, Shobha said the woman had no relatives and was not telling her name. "Our CI (Circle Inspector) got a call regarding the pregnant woman. We along with the inspector went there. She gave birth there itself because there wasn't enough time to take her to the hospital. The woman has no one and she is not even telling her name," said Shobha. According to the reports, the state police are searching for a suitable home for the woman and child.
