Gujarat RS polls: Congress' brouhaha 'bogus', says Prasad

New Delhi [India], Aug 8 (ANI): Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on Tuesday stated that the brouhaha, which the Congress Party is creating around the Rajya Polls in Gujarat, is 'unwarranted' and bogus.

Prasad said that the grand old party is unnecessarily getting antsy.

"Congress has been levelling baseless allegations, they did not protest about it in morning," said Prasad.

"We have requested the Election Commission to reject Congress's plea as once votes are cast then nothing can be done, the process was fair," he added.

Prasad further said that the Congress is losing its cool as it has realised that it is about to taste one of the most embarrassing defeats.

"Since morning Congress has been claiming win, now with defeat staring in their face they are making desperate attempts," he said.

Meanwhile, Congress candidate Ahmed Patel has asserted that his party had filed their concern with the returning officer, but their plea was shunned.

"Complaint was filed immediately but returning officer didn't do anything," said Patel

However, Patel said that despite of all the tactics played against him, he is still confident of winning.

Counting of votes for the Rajya Sabha seats in Gujarat got delayed as the Congress earlier today moved the Election Commission seeking that votes of two party MLAs, who claimed to have voted for the BJP nominees, be declared invalid. (ANI)
