New Delhi: The Election Commission on Saturday sought a report from the Gujarat Chief Secretary on the Congress' allegation that the BJP was using money and muscle power to poach on its legislators from the state. EC sources said the poll panel has sought an enquiry report from the Chief Secretary of Gujarat by 5 p.m. on Monday "on the allegation made in the memorandum submitted by the Congress delegation today". "Direction has been given to the state government to ensure proper security to all the MLAs and their family members," the source said. Earlier in the day, a Congress delegation led by senior party leader Ghulam Nabi Azad met the EC and submitted a memorandum stating that the ruling BJP in Gujarat was using high handed tactics and money and muscle power to wean away Congress MLAs ahead of the Rajya Sabha elections on August 8.
