Dimple raises questions on 'elephant' and 'lotus' printed on Rs 2000 notes

JAUNPUR: Raising eyebrows on Election Commission's directive of covering the word "Samajwadi" written ambulances under Uttar Pradesh government's initiative, SP MP Dimple Yadav on Sunday asked why the election symbols of BJP and BSP were printed on Rs 2000 notes. UP "Rs. 2000 notes were introduced but did this move curb corruption? Moreover, on the new notes 'elephant' and 'lotus' were printed. Those who raise questions over our Samajwadi ambulances, I want to ask them why did they print these symbols on the new currency note?, Dimple said during an election rally in Jaunpur. Untitled The UP government was asked to cover the word "Samajwadi" written on 1,488 ambulances under its 'Samajwadi Swasthya Seva' initiative as per the directive of the Election Commission. Additional Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) P K Pandey said a decision in this regard was taken following a complaint. "The ECI has instructed the CEO office to ensure the implementation of its order. So far, 'Samajwadi' word written on 1,488 ambulances have been covered," he said. 'Samajwadi Swasthya Sewa', the free-of-cost and round-the-clock emergency ambulance service, was launched in the state by Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav. On receiving a call on toll-free number 108, an ambulance reaches the patient within 20 minutes and the patient is provided medical aid before being shifted to a hospital, under the initiative.
