Dharmendra Pradhan announces cash prize for WorldSkills' 2017 winners

New Delhi [India] October 11 (ANI): Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan on Tuesday announced cash reward for the participants of the WorldSkills 2017 competition to be held in Abu Dhabi.

"Gold and Silver medalists will get Rs 10 lakh and Rs. eight lakh respectively, while Rs. six lakh for Bronze and others will receive Rs. two lakh. The experts, who are accompanying them, will be rewarded with Rs. four lakh, Rs. three lakh, Rs. two lakh and Rs. one lakh respectively," Pradhan told media here.

He added that for the first time, the competition has been associated with cash prize, and it is a step to motivate the children.

"They (participants) will definitely raise India's name in Abu Dhabi and this will be a big step forward in their career," the Union Minister said.

A 28-member team will represent India in 26 trades in the 44th edition of the world's greatest skills competition.

The event is scheduled from October 14 to October 19.

This year around 1200 competitors from more than 70 countries will compete. (ANI)
