Delhi Metro fare hike: Public should not suffer due to conflict between Centre, AAP, says BJP

New Delhi [India], October 2 (ANI): Commenting on the reports of Delhi Metro fare hike, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday said that the common man should not suffer due to the internal conflict between the Central Government and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

Speaking to ANI here, BJP leader Ranjeev Rajan said, "The fare should be pocket friendly for the common man, who travels daily via Metro. The common man should not suffer, due to the conflict between the Central Government and the AAP."

He further suggested that a fair-fixing committee meeting should be conducted, where in according to their recommendations, the fares should be fixed.

Another BJP leader R.P. Singh said that as there is no other alternative to commute in Delhi, the fare should be kept pocket-friendly for the common man.

The Delhi Metro fares were last revised in May. If the fare is revised again, it is expected to go up by a maximum of Rs. 10 w.e.f. October 10.

A committee, including the representatives of both the state and the Centre, which have equal stakes in the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), is entrusted with recommending fare hikes. (ANI)
