Delhi: Army Major's wife killed; other suspected Major arrested from Meerut

New Delhi: In the latest development in the murder case of Army Major Amit Dwivedi's wife Shailaja Dwivedi, the other suspected Army Major Nikhil Rai Handa has been arrested from Meerut by Delhi Police. As per the claims of Major Dwivedi, Major Handa was the prime suspect in his wife's murder as she wanted to break all ties with Handa after an alleged affair between the two. This new revelation was made by Major Dwivedi on Sunday after which lent it an angle of a love triangle murder.  Shailaja Dwivedi was found dead in Delhi's cantonment area on Saturday. As per the sources Major Amit Dwivedi had accused another Army Major who was a common friend of the couple since two years, for murdering his wife Shailaja Dwivedi. As per the sources in police, Major Amit suspects the hand of the other major behind the death of his wife as she was trying to end her ‘friendship’ with him. As per the information received, Major Amit was posted in Dimapur before Delhi, where his wife befriended another major. While Dwivedi came to Delhi two months ago, his wife’s ‘friendship’ with the other major continued and the two remained in contact. When Dwivedi expressed his displeasure at their relation, she tried to end it and that is why she was murdered, suspects Major Dwivedi. The body of Major Dwivedi’s wife was found near Brar Square in the Delhi Cantonment area on Saturday. The police said she had gone to an Army base hospital for a physiotherapy session and her body was found later. The woman had neck injuries, they said. "We have found some clues about the accused," they said, adding that an investigation is underway. The couple got married in 2009 and have a six-year-old son.
