Defence experts back MEA for rebuking Pak for glorifying Burhan Wani

New Delhi [India], July 10 (ANI): The defence experts on Monday backed the Ministry of External Affairs for rebuking Pakistan for glorifying Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani on his death anniversary.

It is a very appropriate response. The ministry has taken very firm stand on it. It is very sad and unfortunate that Pakistan Army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif glorified Wani and dubbing him as martyr. It should be condemned not only by India but by all International community," defence expert Qamar Agha told ANI.

Echoing the same defence expert S.P. Sinha said that Pakistan's move indicates the linkage between its government and the terrorist.

"It is sad commentary by Pakistan. This needs to be condemned in totality. This shows the linkage between Pakistan Army and government and the terrorist operating in Kashmir," Sinha told ANI.

India on Sunday slammed Pakistan for glorifying Wani on his death anniversary, saying that Islamabad's terror support and sponsorship needs to be condemned by one and all.

Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Gopal Baglay in a series of tweets said, " First @ForeignOfficePk read frm banned LeT's script. Now Pak COAS (Pakistan army chief) glorifies Burhan Wani. Pak's terror support and sponsorship need to be condemned by one and all."

In a move that could potentially escalate tensions in its already strained bilateral ties with India, Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Saturday paid tribute to Wani saying his death "infused a new spirit in the struggle for freedom" in the Valley.

Pakistan Army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa had also praised Burhan Wani, saying, "Sacrifices of Burhan Wani and generations against Indian atrocities are a testimony of their resolve."

Wani, who was responsible for several attacks against security personnel in Kashmir, was killed in an encounter with Indian security forces last year on July 8.

Following his death widespread protest was erupted in the Kashmir Valley and curfew was also imposed for consecutive 53 days. (ANI)
