New Delhi: Ever since, the Income Tax department revealed that total cash worth Rs 316cr & new currency worth Rs 79cr seized has been seized.  Police and the Income Tax Department have been conductiong raids in a chasedown for black money ever since Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a sudden address to the nation announced the demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes on November 8. The cash was found by the police in a car during vehicular checking near Juhu Tara Complex at around 7 pm. Upon checking, the cash was discovered. According to the police, there were four persons present inside the car. All four have been arrested for further questioning, said Mumbai police's ACP Arun Chavhan. Over Rs 8 lakh in new currency notes was seized in West Bengal's Midnapore district as it was being transported illegally and two people arrested, police said on Friday.

Demonetised notes worth Rs 1.45 crore were seized here on early Friday and three persons were arrested in this connection, police said.

The entire amount seized was in the defunct Rs 500 notes. Acting on a tip-off, police intercepted the three persons carrying demonetised notes when they were about to enter a building in the Mangoe Lane area of central Kolkata. "The accused have revealed some names during interrogation and we are trying to identify those persons," said Joint Commissioner of Police, Crime, Vishal Garg. Police have arrested three men from Rajkot and two men from Bhavnagar in this case. Investigations have revealed that the accused were going to get their currency notes exchanged. Karol Bagh, Delhi The Income Tax department on Friday said it has seized Rs 1.4 crore cash, including Rs 8 lakh in new currency, in searches on the premises of a civil contractor here as part of its anti-black money drive post demonetisation. Officials said the seizure was made from a civil sub contractor identified as P L Soni, from a location in the Karol Bagh area. They said the department conducted the searches based on a tip-off of alleged illegal cash being hoarded at this location. 'The seizure of new currency was made in the denomination of Rs 2,000 notes. The old notes that were seized include the demonetised currencies of Rs 1000/500 and also the legal tender of Rs 100," they said. The department also conducted a survey operation at the Krishna Nagar branch of Axis bank here in connection with a probe, they said. Gurugram, Haryana Police seized new currency notes worth Rs 10 lakh in the area.
