Gandhinagar:
In a major setback to Narendra Modi government in Gujarat, the Congress on
Wednesday won the Mansa Assembly bypoll. The party has wrested Mansa
Assembly seat from the BJP.

Congress candidate Babuji Thakor has defeated BJP's DD Patel by 8,181
votes. The BJP has never lost this seat since 1995.

Over 75 per cent turnout was recorded in the voting held on Monday and
political observers said the unexpected development could be an indication
of anti-incumbency.

The bypoll in Mansa was required as former speaker and BJP MLA Mangaldas
Patel had died.
