Coldest day of the season so far; transport affected

New Delhi: Northern India remained in the grip of winter as temperatures continued to drop.

 

Monday morning in the capital dawned without a hint of the sun, with the city completely blanketed by fog.

 

Visibility at the airport was near to zero early in the morning, but the situation improved to 150 meters by 9 am.

 

At least two incoming and two outgoing flights had to be cancelled, also 15 incoming and 24 outgoing flights were delayed. 

 

Up till 9 am, at least 138 trains were also running late due to fog.

 

According to the MeT department, this was that coldest day of the season so far, with minimum temperature in Delhi at 4.2 degree celsius.
