Heartbreaking: Chhattisgarh TV anchor reads out breaking news of husband’s death

NEW DELHI: Supreet Kaur, a news anchor with Chhattisgarh’s private IBC-24 channel, faced an unfortunate situation when she read out the breaking news of the death of her husband in a road accident. The 28-year-old anchor left everyone speechless by her exemplary commitment as she kept her composure and continued with the bulletin even after realising the news she just read could be about her husband. Kaur was anchoring the morning news bulletin on Saturday when a reporter phoned in with details of a fatal accident that had left three dead and two others who were in the vehicle injured. The reporter told three of the five people travelling in a Renault Duster car were killed in in an accident in Chhattisgarh's Mahasamund district. Though, she had realised that her husband could be among the victims but managed to hold herself together during the newscast. Only after the cameras went off she called her relatives and broke down into tears. “It speaks volumes about her sense of duty and professionalism that she continued, and kept her calm for another ten minutes. Kaur has worked with us for nine years, and is one of the most popular anchors in the state. She has a young daughter, and we stand with our colleague in her pain,” Indian Express quoted a senior editor of IBC 24 channel as saying. Video courtesy: IBC-24
