Chandrababu Naidu hits back at YSRCP chief Reddy over 'gunning down' remark

Nandyal (Andhra Pradesh) [India], August 19 (ANI): As the political gauge is shooting up with each passing day for the upcoming by-elections in Andhra Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday lashed out at the YSR Congress Party chief Jagan Mohan Reddy over his statement that "it won't be wrong if he is gunned down on the streets."

Naidu said that he has been working hard for the state and certainly doesn't deserve to be "shot, hanged or ripped off."

Speaking at a campaign in Kurnool district's Nandyal here, Naidu said, "We already know that victory is ours. The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) stands for development and welfare of minorities is our agenda. I am working hard for the state and its people. Do you want me to be shot, hanged, to be ripped off? I have been striving hard to develop the state after the bifurcation and will do my best in it."

Naidu further stated that Reddy had been making false allegations against him.

"The Opposition has been making false accusations through their campaign. The party chief Jagan has been lying on all the rumors that he has created. The Opposition are acting like demons and spreading rumours among my supporters," he said.

Naidu's statement comes after Jagan said that Naidu failed to implement even a single promise he had given to various sections of people including farmers, women, unemployed and minorities.

"The Chief Minister is known for his duplicity, double-dealing and treachery. And now, he is coming before you to seek votes again. There is nothing wrong, if people like Naidu are gunned down on streets in public glare. He is not a Mukhya Mantri (chief minister), but a Mukhya Kantri (chief looter)," Jagan had said.

Meanwhile, Reddy is also campaigning in Nandyal for the upcoming by-elections.

Naidu will resume his second-day campaign on Sunday in the Kurnool district and visit Gospadu and Nandyal mandal to seek voters' support for the TDP candidate.

The by-elections will take place on Wednesday and the interim period would be utilised by both the parties to pump in maximum amount of money to buy votes. (ANI)
