BJP should punish the guilty, not collude with them: Rahul Gandhi on Chandigarh stalking case

Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi and CPI-M leader Sitaram Yechury have condemned the Chandigarh stalking case. While Rahul demands action against the guilty, Yechury hints that "someone" is helping the accused.

New Delhi: Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi, has reacted to the stalking incident of the Chandigarh girl by Haryana BJP Chief Subhash Barala's son Vikas Barala. In a tweet on Sunday, Rahul Gandhi asked the BJP government to take action against those who were guilty. He condemned the attempt to kidnap and outrage the modesty of the woman and has said that BJP should punish and not collude with culprits and the mindset they represent.   CPI-M general secretary Sitaram Yechury too has spoken up against the alleged incident. He questioned Prime Minister Modi's and BJP party president Amit Shah's silence over the case. In his tweet he has indicated that, clearly 'someone' is helping the accused. His reaction came after the BJP leader's son was granted bail after arrest.   Vikas and his friend Ashish were arrested on Sunday for stalking the girl and were later released on bail. The woman's father who is an IAS officer said in a Facebook post "If we do not persist in trying to bring the guilty to justice, more and more daughters will suffer this hurt". The woman too, had written a long detailed post of the horror she underwent while being stalked.
