BJP rides high on Exit polls, Congress stays unperturbed

New Delhi: As the results of various exit polls showed the saffron party doing well in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader S. Prakash on Friday said that his party is far ahead of all adversaries and opponents. He, however, admitted that the exit polls are unpredictable. "The BJP was confident of winning Uttar Pradesh, Goa, Uttarakhand and making a big impact in Manipur. There is a setback in Punjab. We are in alliance with the Akali Dal, the anti-incumbency factor is also influencing the BJP there but in all other states we are far ahead of our adversaries and opponents," he said. Expressing confidence of a splendid show in the assembly polls, Congress leader P.L. Punia said the exit-polls is just an imagination. "Modi has accepted his defeat so he did road shows and diverted from the agenda of development. He tried his level best but couldn’t succeed," said Punia. He further said it will be a clean sweep for the Congress this time. "There is no doubt that we are forming our Government in Goa, Manipur, Uttarakhand and UP too. It will be a clean sweep and will be a big shock to the BJP," he said. Pollsters have predicted the BJP as the largest party in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur while a setback for SAD- BJP alliance in Punjab.
