BJP conspiring to wipe Tripura off history: Manik Sarkar

Agartala (Tripura) [India], Feb 14 (ANI): Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar on Tuesday hit out at the alliance of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Indigenous People's Front of Tripura (IPFT), saying that both the parties are conniving to wipe off the state from the history.

Addressing a rally ahead of the upcoming assembly election in the state, Sarkar accused the BJP of creating disturbances throughout the nation.

"The alliance between BJP and IPFT is unholy. BJP is supporting IPFT which demands the separation of Tripura. It is a conspiracy to wipe off Tripura from history," he said.

"Four years back, the BJP came to power with promises of 'Acche Din' among others but kept none," he added.

He noted that the country's inflation rate and petrol prices were higher than the rest of the world.

The Chief Minister also accused the BJP of accepting money from the corporate sector for the 2014 general election.

"The BJP had taken money from the corporate for 2014 election so they are working for them, stopping social and profit-making public sector so that the corporation can make a profit. This will repeat in 2019," he said.

The election to the 60-member Tripura Assembly would be held on February 18, while the counting of votes will be done on March 3.

The Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI-M) has a strong foothold in the state and is in power for the past 25 years. (ANI)
