The meeting went for two hours. Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly elections are due in 2017 and these meetings between the SP and the Congress are hinting at the alliance. Earlier, Prashant Kishor had also met state president of Samajwadi Party Shivpal Yadav. Who is Prashant Kishor Prashant Kishor is the same person who is believed to be behind the Lalu-Nitish alliance win in the Bihar state election. Reportedly, after Bihar, the same formula may be applied to keep the Bharatiya Janta Party out of power in the Uttar Pradesh. Last week, Shivpal Yadav had met JD(U)'s senior leader Sharad Yadav. After that, Sharad Yadav met Congress president Sonia Gandhi. In addition to this, RLD president Ajit Singh also met Shivpal Yadav. Why need for alliance It is believed that after the family fight, SP may have become weak in the state. Congress is already vulnerable. Under such circumstances, both may form an alliance to prevent Muslim votes from getting divided.
