Bhopal encounter case: 80 out of 160 warders deputed at CM's bungalow and other places

New Delhi: It has been found out that 80 out of the 160 security personnel on duty in the Bhopal Central Jail were actually deputed at other places outside the jail, clearly stating that security arrangements at the Bhopal Central Jail were insufficient.

While some were guarding the Chief Minister’s and the Prison Minster’s bungalows, 5 were on duty outside the the Central Jail Superintendent’s house. In addition, the Principal Secretary too had 10 warders appointed for his safety.

Clearly, the Bhopal Jail was facing acute shortage of security personnel the night eight terrorists of the banned Students Islamic Movement of India group escaped from the Bhopal Central Jail after killing a guard. However, they were gunned down in an encounter by the state police on Monday.

A judicial enquiry will be conducted into the same, announced Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. The decision came on Thursday after the pressure from opposition parties.

The CM had visited the Bhopal Central Jail, on Wednesday, to take stock of security situation after Bhopal jailbreak. On Tuesday, he had also arrived at the residence of Ramashankar Yadav, the head constable who was killed by the SIMI terrorists.
