Lucknow:
Union steel minister and Congress leader Beni Prasad Verma on Sunday
said that the Congress should forge an alliance with the Bahujan Samaj
Party (BSP) in Uttar Pradesh.

"Mayawati is thousand times better than Mulayam Singh Yadav and the
Congress should think about forging an alliance with the BSP," Verma told
to STAR News.

However, Beni Prasad also added that this is his individual view and the
Congress will take the appropriate decision.

"The Samajwadi Party is in the competition in most of the places in Uttar
Pradesh but it can not get more than 140 seats. The Congress and RLD
alliance will get around 100 seats," said Verma.

He praised Rahul Gandhi for his hardwork and backed Digvijay Singh's
statement that Rahul can not be blamed if party failed to perform better
in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls.

He also raised questions over the ticket distribution and said that the
party may lose seats due to poor distribution of tickets.

The STAR News-Nielsen exit poll on Saturday predicted that Samajwadi Party
would emerge as the single largest party with 183 seats. If the Congress,
which is likely to get 51 seats, forge an alliance with the Mayawati-led
BSP even then they wouldn't be able to form the government. The BSP is
likely to get only 83 seats and RLD, the alliance partner of Congress, is
likely to get 11 seats. The magic figure in Uttar Pradesh Assembly is 202.
