Attack on SSB: Here's everything about mastermind Zargar, one of the terrorists swapped during Kandahar

New Delhi: The snake is out of the hole again. Mushtaq Ahmad Zargar, who was swapped in Kandahar in 1999 in return of passengers of the hijacked Indian Airlines flight IC-8141999, is behind the Friday's attack on Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), said reports. 16-year ago, when the plane was hijacked, three terrorists were swapped in exchange for passengers-Masood Azhar, Omar Saeed Sheikh and Mushtaq Ahmad Zargar. t1 After so many years, he is again active in Kashmir valley. One jawan was martyred and eight others were injured on Friday when militants attacked SSB convoy in Zakura area on the outskirts of Srinagar. The Al Umar Mujahideen organisation which took the responsibility for the attack is headed by no other than Zargar. With 40 cases of murder on his head, Zargar is known as a cruel murderer. Now 50-year-old, Zargar was first arrested when he was only 17. In 1988, he went to Pakistan to undergo training in militant activities and then he himself started training jihadis. In terror camps of PoK, Zargar also used to give training to terrorists. Zargar also kidnapped the sister of Mehbooba Mufti, Rubaiya. Earlier he was also involved in the illegal extortion activities. Between 1989-93 there was tremendous scare of him in the valley. But in 1993 itself, he was arrested and kept in Kot Bhalwal jail of Jammu. From here he was swapped in 1999.
