Anganwadi workers, teachers protest in MP for pay hike
Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) [India], Dec 29 (ANI): The Anganwadi and Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA) workers and guest teachers have been sitting on strike in Bhopal's Shahjahani Park in protest against the Madhya Pradesh government and demanded permanent employment and pay hike.
The workers are on strike since past three days. Leader of Opposition Ajay Singh has also joined the protest.
The Delhi government has already hiked the salaries of Anganwadi workers to over Rs 9000 a month. In Kerala, Anganwadi workers earn Rs 10,000 a month.
The Gujarat government had announced a 50 percent hike in the salaries of ASHA workers in the state.
