Anantnag, J&K: 2 terrorists including LeT's Bashir Lashkari gunned down by Army

Srinagar: Two Lashkar terrorists who had been holed up in a residential area of Anantnag in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday morning were gunned down by security officials. One of the killed terrorists included LeT's Bashir Lashkari.  As per sources, a heavy firing was initiated from the terrorists’ end, which was retaliated by Indian Army. Heavy exchange of fire is taking place from both the ends. As per the police,  a woman civilian was killed in a cross-firing between security forces and militants. "Security forces were fired at when they launched an operation in Batpora village after a tip-off about the militants hiding in a house," the police said in a statement here." "In the cross firing, the woman was wounded and later succumbed to her injuries." All schools and colleges of the area have been shut down in order to ensure there is no hurdle in the ongoing operation. Even mobile services of the area have been suspended. As per Army sources, the locals in the valley, angry from the ongoing operation; have again resorted to stone pelting on Army vans. Since the whole area has been cordoned off, the operation is likely to act as a hurdle in the Amarnath which passes through the area. More details are awaited.
